We've decided to limit our weekly wine finds to Ontario wines that are mostly available at the LCBO and that we enjoy with friends, food, and family. This week's wine find is the 2022 Marynissen Cabernet Franc.

About Marynissen Estates
Marynissen Estates is a winery in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. It was founded by John Marynissen in 1991, but the estate has a rich history in the Canadian wine industry. John Marynissen had been planting grapes on the estate decades before the self-named brand was formalised. In fact, he is credited with planting Canada's first commercial Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in 1978.
Marynissen Estates has undergone significant changes over the years. After John Marynissen's passing in 2009, his daughter Sandra and her husband Glen Muir sold the winery to the Zhang family in 2012. Despite initial plans to maintain the winery's traditional operations, the new owners faced challenges such as severe weather conditions that damaged the vineyards. The winery has since been replanted and expanded its offerings, focusing on sustainable and traditional farming methods.
