Today, we are talking about a wine from a country very close to my heart: Portugal. Our wine find today is the Soito Taleiga Tinto 2018, from a fairly young family-run operation that has received many accolades for the wines it produces.
About Soito Wines
Soito Wines, founded in 2013, is a notable winery in Portugal's Dão region, specifically in Tibalde. Owned by the Soito family, the winery has quickly gained recognition for its high-quality wines, winning several prestigious awards. Among their accolades, their wines have also been honoured with a Platinum Medal for the Best Northern Portuguese Red at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2017.
Soito Wines primarily works with several indigenous grape varieties that are characteristic of the Dão region. The main grapes they utilize include Alfrocheiro, Jaen (Mencia), Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Nacional. These varieties are known for their ability to produce wines with rich flavours and complexity and genuinely do reflect the region.
About Soito Taleiga Tinto 2018
The Soito Taleiga Tinto 2018 is a red wine blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz, and the Jaen (Mencia) grape. On the nose, blackberries and violet create a welcoming, fragrant air. On the palate, you'll note a blend of blue and black fruits such as, blueberry, plum, and currant. This red blend also has a slightly herbed finish which makes it a joy when pairing with a meal.
