Today's 'wine find' gives us a chance to spotlight a wine that defies expectations: Errázuriz Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay 2023 from Chile.

While Chile is globally celebrated for bold reds like Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon, this Chardonnay from the coastal edge of the Aconcagua Valley challenges the mainstream narrative, showcasing the region’s versatility and potential for stunning white wines.
About Errázuriz and the Aconcagua Valley
The Errázuriz winery was founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errázuriz, and this family-owned winery went on to revolutionize Chilean viticulture by introducing French grape varieties to the Aconcagua Valley in the year of its founding. The family started with Bordeaux varieties, namely Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
In 1998, the family decided to expand their production to areas outside of their inland and mountainous sites in Aconcagua and purchased 230 ha of coastal land just 12km from the Pacific Ocean. It was here that the family started to plant cool-climate grapes such as Chardonnay.
What makes the Errázuriz winery and family uniquely special to the  Aconcagua Valley is that their years of petitioning eventually saw the Aconcagua Costa become an official sub-region (DO) in 2012. The family recognized the stark differences between the coastal area, from climate to soil, and how these variables translated into very different grape compositions.
About Errázuriz Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay 2023

The 2023 Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay is a testament to meticulous viticulture from vineyard to winery.
Its pale straw appearance, with green reflections, is met with the powerful aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, and subtle vanilla from partial oak aging.
On the palate, vibrant acidity frames flavours of ripe mango and citrus, balanced by a creamy mid-palate and slate-driven minerality. The whole mouth experience is capped off with an energetic, crisp, long finish.
All grapes used in this wine are estate-grown and hand-harvested. In the winery, we see native yeast fermentation, and 11 months in French oak, 15% of that is new.
The Errázuriz Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay 2023 reimagines Chilean Chardonnay, marrying coastal vitality with caretaker precision. Whether paired with food or enjoyed solo, it’s a bold statement from a region—and a winery—unafraid to rewrite the rules.
The Errázuriz Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay 2023 can be found at the LCBO vintages for $17.10.
